Job – Laboratory Chemist

Job Description / Requirements:

• Immediately report serious or significant operational, quality, and HSE issues or complaints to the line manager and suggest corrective action(s) and preventive action(s).
• Execute the required testing for the receipt of raw materials and the daily production quality control.
• Prepare and submit quality control production sample results to the line manager.
• Record accurate, up-to-date reports of all quality control sample test results.
• Store traceable batch samples for an agreed amount of time.
• Regularly execute the required tasks to upkeep all laboratory equipment, supplies, consumables, PPE, etc.
• Execute the required tests related to quality complaints from customers, prepare and present the results to the line manager and higher management.
• Prepare weekly quality control results and present deviations to the line manager.
• Prepare monthly quality control reports and present them to the line manager.
• Report on the status and stock of all laboratory supplies.
• Track and manage new samples and products.
• Be actively involved in product testing, audits, and coordination with the third-party laboratory team.
• Support the production team and their activities with technical support.
• Execute the calibration of laboratory tools and equipment to best-practice levels.
• Assist in seeking, obtaining, and maintaining laboratory accreditation from relevant bodies.
• Expected to use a creative and viable approach to support new product launches and existing product ranges, including developing new test methodologies or developing new and novel finished formulations for promotional means.
• Expected to enhance knowledge of relevant applications and market area.
• Keep research, sales, and marketing teams up to date with developments on projects.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Degree in a Chemistry discipline or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years experience in the Paints & Coatings
• Understand different base oil classifications and their basic parameters.
• Must be able to formulate monograde & multigrade formulations.
• In-depth knowledge of the necessary instruments/equipment to be used in the laboratory.
• Excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills.
• Knowledge of additive components, SAE, VG, API, ILSAC, JASO specifications and different additives, such as PCMO, HDDEO, Gear oil additives, ATF, Hydraulic etc. is an advantage
