Job Title – Radio Operator Jobs in Dammam , Saudi Arabia

Responsibilities:

  •  Effectively participate in the Stop Observe Act Report (SOAR) program, encourage active participation and input reported information into the system.

     

  • Maintain radio watch and monitor traffic on all communication systems.

     

  • Advise Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) of any emergency situations in vicinity of installation.

     

  • Ensure the fixed radio communications system and portable radio equipment, including lifeboats, is maintained in working order; ensure surveys are carried out.

     

  • Follow procedures required for helicopter administration and maintain close contact with helicopter base, operator’s representative, and onboard management.

     

  • Assist with Helicopter Landing Officer’s (HLO) duties and responsibilities.

     

  • Keep OIM and HLO advised on helicopter schedule and routing.

     

  • Work with camp boss and allocate personnel to room, bunk, lifeboat, and muster station.

     

  • Keep Safety Training Coordinator (STC) or Medic advised of departures and arrivals to facilitate helicopter briefing and inductions.

     

  • Maintain installation Persons on Board (POB) documentation and update muster lists after each crew change.

     

  • Perform all work according to agreed expectations of both internal and external customers, focus on doing things right the first time, every time, and contribute actively to continual improvement activities.

     

  • Comply with company’s Code of Conduct.

     

  • Man the radio room and follow OIM instructions during emergencies.

     

  • Handle all emergency communication traffic in accordance with Company procedures and recognized maritime procedures.

     

  • Plan work before work commences and manage hazards effectively.

     

  • Oversee and/or perform rig communication, including routine communication to the rig.

     

  • Ensure that appropriate communication equipment is available and operable at all times.

     

  • Maintain proper records relating to communication and usage of communication equipment.

     

  • Assist Medic where necessary as liaison with shore based medical personnel.

     

  • Show active participation in Hazard Management and Stop Work activities.

     

  • Effectively contribute to Management of Change and Non-Conformance Management through compliance with Change and Non-Conformance Procedures.

     

  • Assist Training department with administration and coordination of training courses as required.

     

  • Monitor weather.

     

  • Monitor fire and gas panel; notify Person in Charge (PIC) of any potential issues.

     

  •  Monitor marine operations, boat arrivals and departures.

     

  • Log rig-move events.

     

  • Maintain ship logs with daily activities.

     

  •  Assist with clerical work as directed.

     

  •  Maintain handover document on completion of tour for reference by relief.

     

  •  Assist with personnel logistics.

     

  •  Actively participate in weekly safety meetings and contribute with relevant points.

     

  •  Participate in document revisions as required.

     

  •  Assist in the mentoring process in accordance with the Mentoring Program as required.

     

  •  Demonstrate leadership through personal responsibility and accountability.

     

  •  Participate in Competence Program.

     

  •  Develop employees with regards to radio communications as required.

     

  •  Liaise with helicopter staff.

     

  •  Liaise with customer representatives and logistics personnel.

     

  •  Liaise with outside agencies to deal with rig-based emergencies as necessary.

 

Educational requirements:

  • Diploma degree in business administration or computer sciences with minimum 5 years’ experience working on Jack-up rigs, or equivalent as approved by ARO.

     

 

Experience requirements:

  • 5 – 10 Years

Desired Skills:

  • Have a valid GMDSS, SA-HUET, H2S, LSGCT-e) certificates

     

  • Candidate must be medically fit and pass the UKOOA test

     

  • Additional certificates may be required upon joining in accordance with company requirements.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a team environment with members of varying skill levels.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Learns quickly.
