Responsibilities:

Overview of the role:

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and measuring tape
- Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using SMA, GTA, or FCA welding processes
- Cuts work piece, using oxy-acetylene torches
- Able to Air Carbon Arc Gouge
- Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper
- Welds components in flat, vertical horizontal, or overhead positions
- Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
- Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts
- Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques
Educational requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience requirements:
- A Minimum of 1 to 3 years of welding experience on drilling rigs and associated equipment.
Desired Skills:
- Job-Specific Skills:
- Ten or more years of welding experience on drilling rigs and associated equipment
Qualifications:
- Certifications for welding structural steel such as Grade 50, and 4130.
