Senior Quantity Surveyor Position Summary:

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage the cost elements of various projects from initial concept to final account settlement. Projects may include hotels, data centers, office fit-outs, health care, leisure, light industrial etc. The Senior Quantity Surveyor must demonstrate the ability to optimize projects costs, implement value engineering, and ensure value for money whilst still achieving and delivering the highest standards and quality. The successful candidate will be motivated, have a hands on attitude and possess strong career development ambitions.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare estimates and cost plans for a variety of developments using CostX Software
  • Prepare standard documentation reports, valuations, letters, financial reports
  • Prepare tender documents as required by procurement strategy
  • Analyze tenders and prepare tender reports at all stages of procurement
  • Prepare valuations and cost reports; and adjust variations
  • Assist in the settlement of construction disputes/loss and expense claims
  • Prepare and agree final accounts
  • Manage a team of 2 to 3 quantity surveyors
  • Other duties as may reasonably be required of a Senior Quantity Surveyor

Desired Experience and Education:

  • Chartered Membership (desirable)
  • Pre- and post-contract experience
  • Excellent IT skills
  • CostX experience (advantageous)
  • Firm understanding of contracts
  • Excellent communication skills
  • BSc essential in a construction-related discipline
  • The ideal candidate will be a results-driven, self-motivated team player with excellent client relationship skills.

Quantity Surveyor Position Summary:

Role and Responsibilities:

  • To carry out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs and sales.
  • Prepare and monitor project cash flow forecasts.
  • Measure, value, submit and negotiate contract variations.
  • Provide advice to project staff on commercial and contractual matters including reviewing and drafting of correspondence.
  • Prepare submit and negotiate project final accounts.
  • Commercial vetting of subcontractor tenders and contracts.
  • Certification of subcontractor monthly valuations and final accounts.
  • Ensure that business commercial processes are adhered to at the project level.
  • Assist in preparation and adherence to project purchasing targeting and costing budgets.

Skill Requirements:

  • Technically qualified (HNC min) in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management. Consideration is given to MEP engineers with demonstrable commercial experience.
  • Minimum 5 years quantity surveying experience within an MEP contracting organization.
  • Commercially astute, numerate, risk-averse & able to accurately forecast cost & sales.
  • Multi-tasking, self-motivated, energetic team player with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Have good practical organization skills, planning of resources, and program schedule.
  • Be able to provide both summarised and detailed reports, on current activities.
  • IT Literate is able to use Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
  • Demonstrable experience in EPC contracts.
