Job Title – Commercial Manager Jobs in Dammam, Ash Sharqīyah, Saudi Arabia

Responsibilities:

  • You as a Commercial Manager will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. You will be reporting to General Manager PGHV Dammam Factory, you will be leading the provision of contract management services to the Local Business Unit or Product Group or Country, ensuring all contract management activities are executed in accordance with group or division or business unit directives and instructions including company procedures and the contract management framework.
  • Responsibilities: Contract portfolio governance: Ensuring the portfolio of contracts in the business follows contract and claim management methodologies in accordance with internal standard procedures. Tender preparation and negotiations: Reviewing and commenting on commercial and technical tender terms and conditions.
  • Developing contract strategy based on Hitachi Energy Ltd.’s policies, customer requirements, and the overall execution strategy taking into account risk, pricing, scope and schedule. Contract execution: Identifying the contract baseline including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, proposal, schedule and other documents incorporated in the contract and highlights areas of potential risk. Ensuring timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects in portfolio of contracts i.e. payments, claims, variation orders, warranties, provisions, guarantees, etc.
  • Contract closure: Verifying that both parties to the contract have fulfilled their contractual obligations and there are no responsibilities outstanding. Assessing success of the contract and determines if there are any lessons learned for future contracting. Documenting and communicating to all appropriate parties any deficiencies found as part of the closeout process.
  • Contract and claims: Establishing and enforcing standard change methodologies in portfolio of contracts to identify changes and quantify the additional time and compensation due to Hitachi Energy Ltd. per the contract, defines approval requirements and communicates changes to the customer. Enforcing and defending Hitachi Energy Ltd.’s contractual interests against customer and suppliers during the whole of a project life cycle, including monitoring and assessment of changes and deviations, as well as defending and enforcing claims. In concert with legal, develops the negotiation strategy and supports negotiations.
  • Supporting legal handling formal dispute resolution, litigation and arbitration. Notifying and liaises with legal to report major claims and keeps legal updated of any critical development during project execution. Purchasing: Supporting drafting of purchase orders, contracts and subcontracts and ensures that relevant subcontracts contain appropriate contract terms to protect Hitachi Energy Ltd.’s interest, including flow-down of main contract terms.
  • Risk Management: Analyzing prime contract terms to highlight areas of potential opportunity and risk, such as ambiguities, omissions and conflicts, as work proceeds. Seeking advice from legal to draft, negotiate and finalize agreements during the sales and project execution phases. Developing and implementing risk mitigation and opportunity plan in concert with project manager and sales manager or WCFE manager.
  • Insurance: Ensuring contract insurance provisions are adhered to and coordinates with Insurance Risk Management regarding occurrences that may be covered by customer or Hitachi Energy Ltd. provided insurance. Export controls: Seeking advice from ensures close review of all contracts and projects with regard to restrictions on exports, considering legal to ensure accurate handling of all export control matters and countries, customers or products involved and the respective laws and Hitachi Energy Ltd. regulations.
  • People leadership and development: Ensuring with HR Manager support that the area of responsibility is organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guiding, motivating and developing direct or indirect subordinates within HR policies.
  • Safety and integrity: Living Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.    Ability to interface with customers and subcontractors regarding all matters related to contracts and projects including those related to the review and process of changes. Ability to work in a corporate office and project site environment. Proficiency in both spoken & written English and Arabic language is required.

 

Educational requirements:

  • Your background: A bachelor’s degree in engineering, quantity surveying, business administration, economics or law.

 

Experience requirements:

  • 10 plus years’ experience in High Voltage, EPC, power generation, substations, converter stations, grid integration, transmission or similar industrial plant contract management and subcontract management functions with emphasis on electrical installations desired, processes and management/administration of varying sizes and types of contractual agreements.
  • Solid experience in change management, claim management and contract-related legal issues and the possible effects in the relevant areas of responsibility regarding proposal stage and/or project execution.
