Job Title – Engineer – Software Jobs in Doha, Qatar

Responsibilities:

Recommends process improvements to scientists across the Bioinformatics department on enhancing scientific analytical functions.
Gathers and undertakes complex requirement analysis from business users where ambiguity is high.

Designs, analyzes and develops new software.
Documents and tests new software on the respective computer hardware at Sidra.
Extends/ integrates newly developed software to existing ones.

Develops software to integrate data from different databases.
Performs software development to the highest standards.
Develops software for scientific applications to run on high performance computing.

Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies
Adheres to and promotes Sidra’s Values

Educational requirements:

ESSENTIAL

Bachelor’s Degree in computer, engineering or other related field

PREFERRED

MS in computing, engineering or other related field

Experience requirements:

ESSENTIAL

5+ years of software development experience
Strong software development experience
Knowledgeable of the highest standards of software development

Experience in developing software to access/ integrate data from different databases

PREFERRED

Experience in developing software tools for Bioinformatics and other scientific applications to run on High performance Computing

Experience in research and/or academic settings
Experience working with database management systems such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
Outstanding academic achievement

Desired Skills:

ESSENTIAL

Demonstrated ability and skill with the following software languages Java, C#, C and C++. And demonstrated ability to be a quick learner in more programming languages as directed by the Manager
Demonstrated high level Technical skills

Excellent interpersonal and communicative skills
Knowledgeable in scientific research methods and evaluation of research results, and ability to develop and maintain own knowledge and skills at the forefront of field
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

Fluency in written and spoken English

PREFERRED

Knowledgeable about data and security issues relating to clinical information for research

Qualifications:
