Job Title – Pyrolysis Mechanical Engineer Jobs in Doha, Qatar

Responsibilities:

  • Apply personnel and process safety principles in manufacturing facilities
  • Using fundamental mechanical engineering principles, work with others to provide mechanical engineering design knowledge for global steam cracking furnace projects and technology
  • Drive the maintenance and upgrading of mechanical tool-sets
  • As required, participate in troubleshooting and development teams with other professionals to address complex technical issues
  • Train/mentor less experienced mechanical engineers in relevant skills
  • Assist operating sites with unit start-up, mechanical troubleshooting and performance evaluations
  • Drive operational improvements through technical contribution and innovation

 

Educational requirements:

  • B. S in Mechanical Engineering or higher from a ABET accredited university
  • Strong Mechanical Engineering principles and analytical skills with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the Petrochemical or Fired Heater Industries
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in applying mechanical engineering principles (e.g. heat transfer and mechanical codes)
  • Strong working knowledge of industry design tools for simulation and mechanical analysis (e.g. Finite Element Analysis)
  • Interface with key 3rd party vendors and suppliers
  • 10 – 20% domestic and international travel possible
  • Potential to cross-train into a process engineering discipline
  • Work location is Spring, TX

 

Experience requirements:

  • Knowledgeable in some or many of the sub-specialties of olefins manufacturing processes such as steam cracking furnace technology, feedstock characterization and tools and methods to predict yields in steam cracking furnaces
  • Effective verbal and written skills (e. g. technical reports, technology rollout presentations at plant sites, representing ExxonMobil to 3rd parties)
  • Interacts effectively with all levels of the organization on technical topics
  • Self-starter, takes the initiative in applying, developing and communicating technical issues
