Job – Root Cause Analysis Engineer

Job Description:

Job Purpose:

The role is responsible to support the Head of Plant Productivity in carrying out the services of the section.

The role is responsible and accountable for implementing and monitoring the Root Cause Analysis work process. Ultimate objective of this work process is to contribute to reliability and performance improvement of the production units​ by:

  • Preventing the re-occurrence of already happened loss of volume events​.
  • Reducing the probability of occurrence of expected production volume loss events​.

The primary role is to administer and support the RCA effort from a management standpoint, provide high-quality problem-solving consultancy services and drive training and knowledge sharing between all plants to enhance employees’ knowledge and skills about RCA methodology to drive a problem-solving culture change that will positively impact safety & reliability performance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Implement and maintain a robust root cause analysis program & suggest potential improvement to support the company’s operational requirements.
  • Facilitate various analysis/activities engaging cross-functional teams to determine root cause and ensure the appropriate corrective and preventive action implemented.
  • Monitor RCA strategies for reporting, classifying, investigating, analyzing, and developing corrective actions for all safety, environmental, reliability, quality and other problems to prevent them from re-occurrence.
  • Monitor investigation process assigned to all Plants within Plant and ensure that they carry out all work effectively & track all the RCA investigation recommendations.
  • Determine potential improvements to the systems or equipment and enhance employees’ knowledge and skills about RCA methodology to drive a problem-solving culture change that will positively impact safety & reliability performance.
  • Prepare periodic statistics reports based on actual investigations findings, analyze the common causes between them and develop short- and long-term plans for elimination. Prepare a proactive plan to identify and prevent potential system and human problems.
  • Formulate and monitor RCA key performance indicators & suggest potential improvements to the RCA.
  • Production Loss Analysis to identify main production losses, differentiating them between categories and understanding the source of these losses, therefore defining the scope for the RCA and FMEA work processes and to understand production limitations and constraints, identifying opportunities for plant capacity improvement.
  • Drive the Reliability Culture through Reliability tools training and Shared Learnings.
  • Coordinate the Reliability actions plans for plants’ reliability issues.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, graduated from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the Fertilizer, Petrochemicals or Oil & Gas Industry.
  • Exposure in relevant Causal Analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
