Role Purpose: The role of the Planning Manager is to execute the Planning strategy and enable ongoing revenue growth and profit through sound decisions related to stocking, pricing and positioning goods in stores (online and offline). The role analyzes sales and inventory data to ensure margin targets are achieved through timely management of OTB, stock allocation and replenishment, terminal stock management and favorable price points. The Planning Manager will work closely with the buyers to maximize profitability by predicting and monitoring sales trends and accurately controlling stock levels.
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:
Operational Excellence:
• Ensure the brand delivers business plan profit through delivery of both volume and cash margin, maintaining brand profitability by management of full price and mark down sales, intake margins, level of markdown activity and terminal stock.
• Implement Sales, Open To Buy (OTB) and Markdown plans and monitor performance through seasons.
• Develop and drive all mark down activity in liaison with Buying Managers and Brand Directors based on merchandise plans, open-tobuy revisions, promotional calendar, merchandise cycle, and historical markdown rates and sell-thru, to maintain gross margin.
• Ensure effective management of deliveries, replenishment, allocations, inter store transfers and inventory ageing to minimize obsolescence.
• Analyze and recommend inventory levels based on analysis of historical data, pre-season forecasts, and turnover to buying estimates and maintain the replenishment cycles of merchandise at the warehouses to ensure availability of desired stocks.
• Help analyze the existing stock levels and liaise with the Buying and Marketing team for timely roll out of promotional campaigns to maintain inventory holding norms as well to achieve targeted sales.
Financial & Standards:
• Review the merchandise plans on a periodic basis to ensure profit is maximized and maintained to reach target levels and ensure performance is monitored against plan for the assigned category/brand/store etc.
• Support the development of annual sales forecasts and plan the season‘s collection with the Buyers.
• Enforce Planning policies and procedures and ensure effective controls are in place to monitor compliance.
• Work closely with GM – Planning & Merchandising, Brand Directors and Finance Manager to develop and manage financial plans.
• Assist the GM Planning in implementing supply chain procedures to ensure delivery windows are met and consistent flow of merchandise is maintained.
• Contribute and support the business in achieving the Dare Today, Change Tomorrow sustainability strategy.
Customer:
• Ensure regular communication with Principals and Retail Operations which includes regular performance report sharing inferences, price changes, promotions, new store openings and keeping them abreast of developments.
• Interact with Marketing and establish rapport to ensure synergy on shared goals of effective outcomes for Sales and promotional activities.
• Establish a close working relationship with Buyers to ensure keen understanding of the Planning position.
• Support in promoting sustainability initiatives to transform the lives of the community and contribute to the net positive impact, and health and wellness.
