Procurement Manager – Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

Liaise with Sales/operational managers to understand their current and anticipated demand for goods and materials and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing purchasing activities.

Evaluate and select suppliers and negotiate terms for major purchases; commit to purchases that are in the organization’s best interest.
Analyze and evaluate the organization’s overall purchasing trends to identify areas where purchases could be made in bulk.
Develop policies, checklists, or other materials that describe the organization’s technical, quality, service, or reliability standards to help purchasing staff evaluate supplier proposals.

Analyze and evaluate external price trends and new product offerings to identify opportunities to reduce overall purchasing costs. Select, and manage ongoing relationships with, major suppliers, vendors, or sub-contractors to ensure that the organization receives satisfactory standards of service.
Negotiate prices and delivery conditions; and commit to purchases with terms that are in the organization’s best interest.
Communicate with vendors to resolve problems with the timeliness or quality of supplies.

Respond to escalated enquiries; review and authorize the purchasing recommendations of others
Review open request and coordinating with the team for timely procurement of goods and services.
Review of advance payments and evaluating suppliers based on their performance.

Analyze dead stocks and slow-moving stocks and recommending to the sales in utilizing stocks.
Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of purchasing staff to ensure that the team’s resources are used effectively, and that work schedules and targets are met.
Supervise team members; prioritize and assign tasks to ensure that the team’s resources are used effectively and that work schedules and targets are met.
