• Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor:
  Job DescriptionCore Competencies:

   Understands design economics / ‘cost drivers’ and is proficient at cost planning at masterplan/feasibility/concept / schematic design stages.
   Competence in contract practice and understanding / implementing terms and conditions.

   Knowledge of procurement, supply chain management, and tendering various types of contracts.

   Understand forms of Contract and be able to interpret clauses and draft appropriate notices and letters.

   Possesses strong project financial control, reporting, and ability to reconcile cost differences.

   Proficient in quantification and costing of construction works including rate build-ups and generic rates and knowledge of Standard Methods of Measurements.
   Demonstrate client care and understanding of brief and able to give appropriate advice to clients via email and formal reporting format.

   Lead the measurement team in an effective way to ensure quality and consistency.
   Attend meetings and contribute as the representative and advise on cost, contract, and commercial matters.

   Meet tight deadlines under pressure.

   Ability to work independently without supervision.

  Key responsibilities:

  Pre-Contract Stage

   Carry out feasibility studies and benchmarking analysis.

   Prepare budget estimates, cost plans, and Bills of Quantities.
   Liaise with design team with the design team in drawings issues/revisions.
   Manage design queries and answers process during BoQ production.
   Prepare budget estimates, cost plans, and Bills of Quantities.
   Prepare tender documents (front end) and invitations to bidders.
   Prepare pre-tender estimate including rate build-ups and reconciliations.
   Manage bidder’s queries and answers process during the tender period.
   Analyze tender returns and prepare tender recommendation reports.
   Contribute to value engineering exercises prior to award of contract.
   Prepare contract documents for execution.

  Key Responsibilities

  Post-Contract Stage

   Carry out full post-contract cost and commercial administration works.
   Draft necessary contract correspondence and ensure notifications are made under the contract.

   Prepare monthly progress valuation following Contractor’s Applications for Payment including visiting the site, checking progress with the Engineer / Project Manager, evaluating materials stored on-site, and checking the status of completed variations.
   Evaluate variation orders and make recommendations including obtaining market quotations for ‘star rates’.

   Prepare monthly financial report, assess variations (anticipated/agreed), and cash flow forecast.

   Prepare, negotiate and recommend agreement of final account with Contract or to the Client.

   Attend and contribute to the client, consultant, design team, and site meetings.
   Liaise with Bank funders and carry out due diligence and loan monitoring services.

   Prepare to benchmark analysis of completed projects.

  This opportunity requires Candidates who have:

   A recognized Degree Qualification in Quantity Surveying.
   MRICS / AIQS Membership/accreditation.

   Ministry of Municipality and Environment Professional Engineers’ Committee accreditation (local hires).

   Consultancy environment work experience.

   Good leadership and interpersonal skills, able to work independently and where appropriate lead and manage a team.

   Ability to inspire and influence others to do their best work.
   Experience of leading and successfully delivering cost management commissions.

   Excellent command of written and spoken English with good report, letter, and email writing skills.

   Good IT skills and ability to use all Microsoft software applications and CATO taking-off programs.

   Highly motivated and driven with a passion for delivering to our Clients and have Sector experience across the following sectors retail/health/education/
  commercial/residential / culture/air/infrastructure.
