Qatar Petroleum (QP) is a state-owned public corporation established byEmiri Decree No. 10 in 1974. It is responsible for all phases of the oiland gas industry in the State of Qatar.The principal activities of QP, its subsidiaries and joint ventures are the exploration, production, local and international sale of crude oil,natural gas and gas liquids, refined products, synthetic fuels,petrochemicals, fuel additives, fertilizers, liquefied natural gas(LNG), steel and aluminium.QP’s strategy of conducting hydrocarbon exploration and development isthrough Exploration and Production Sharing Agreements (EPSA) and Development and Production Sharing Agreements (DPSA) concluded withmajor international oil and gas companies.
The operations and activities of QP and its affiliates are conducted atvarious onshore locations, including Doha,

Primary purpose of job
- The Geological Advisor at Qatar Petroleum (QP) is part of an integrated team of geoscientists, engineers, and technicians striving to maximize economic recovery from various offshore reservoirs. Qatar offshore operations are unique within QP, providing the right candidates with experiences that are currently only available in QP. Using state of the art tools,geologists construct and maintain static models to characterize our various reservoirs using all available well, seismic and relevant production data. Geologists are crucial to the new well and development planning process, as they integrate subsurface data to generate our geologic interpretations. Geologists work with drilling and reservoir engineers to design horizontal well trajectories that meet project objectives within the various constraints.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum Experience: 20+ years of applied geologic experience in the oil and gas industry. Operational experience with horizontal well planning, geo-steering (preferably with using InterAct software).
- Job specific: 15+ years of applied geologic experience in the oil and gas industry for “Hands on” experience constructing
geologic models (Petrel preferably). Experience with physical and digital geologic database management.
Education
- Minimum Education: Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Geosciences
