Job Title – Pediatric Intensive Care Consultant – (2200001F) Jobs in Al-Khuzama – Saudi Arabia

Responsibilities:

  • Provide care for pediatric patients and newborns, especially those born prematurely, and with health, examinations, and treatments including procedures with a full range of agents, methods, and techniques, observing quality and safety standards.
  • Diagnoses conditions in newborn and pediatric patients after birth, including breathing problems, infections, and birth defects.
  • Ensure that the newborn receives proper nutrition while under his care and consult with parents, pediatricians, and other healthcare providers to assure the newborn is receiving the proper care.
  • Must make regular rounds to check on critically ill babies, making sure that all proper procedures are being implemented by the Pediatric / NICU medical team to stabilize and improve the baby’s condition.
  • Must be available in case any emergencies arise, such as if a newborn’s vital organs stop functioning properly
  • Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Complies with KSA legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Performs all managerial functions as established by the Group Director of Clinical Services, Chief of Medical Operations, and Chief Executive Officer.
  • Collaborate with hospital leaders in the development of the overall departmental budget including financial, equipment, manpower, and expansion as required.
  • Supervises proper maintenance of records; allocation and appropriate utilization of manpower and other resources to their optimum effectiveness.
  • Develops contingency plans and coordinates emergencies and after-duty hours care in the department by delegating responsible staff within the department.
  • Manages daily operations by distributing workloads to assigned employees;  assuring proper care is provided to patients with full satisfaction; manpower and utilities are fully provided according to department need in a timely manner.
  • Implements quality improvement programs in the department in collaboration with the Quality and Patient Safety Committee and Department.
  • Participates in the planning and designing of the department facilities including the selection and approval of supplies and equipment prior to its procurement.
  • Monitors implementation of continuing education and training programs of staff assigned in the department including student trainees and interns in collaboration with Academic Affairs and Research Center.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources Department for pre-selection of applicants to be recruited and deployed to the department.
  • Provides administrative supervision to all levels of staff assigned in the department.
  • Participates as an active member in any hospital-wide committees either as a member or officer designated or elected by other committee members.
  • Coordinates with P. C. Director for OPD-related problems; with Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for medical-related issues; and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for administrative decision-making.
  • Participates in the QPS programs in collaboration with QPS Department.  Must be an active member of hospital-wide committees like the Code Blue Committee in a position designated or elected by committee members.
  • Provides continuing education, training, and demonstration by sharing new procedures and techniques with colleagues, nurses, and technicians assigned within the department in collaboration with Academic Affairs and Research Center.
  • Attends to work and on-call schedules on time and performs duties completely before ending the shift.
  • Endorses to the next shift any uncompleted task to be continued and/or completed.
  • Responses to emergencies in the hospital without delay during on-call duty.
  • Attends scheduled or unscheduled meetings to discuss and resolve problems.
  • Consider community input during planning for the healthcare needs of the population in collaboration with other Hospital leaders.
  • Participate actively in quality improvement plans and projects as requested
  • Ensure the provision of safe and quality care to the patients
  • Coordinate with hospital leaders to plan for staffing needs, recruitment, and selection
  • Maintaining confidentiality and impartiality
  • Performs other duties necessary to effect efficient services in the department without hesitation.
  • Attends scheduled or unscheduled meetings to discuss and resolve problems.
  • Performs needed procedures according to assigned privileges when and/or if required
  • Performs other duties necessary to effect efficient services in the department without personal reservation.
  • Develop and implement action plans to promote person-centered care in your area. Person-centered care revolves around staff, patients, families, and the community. At SGH, the person-centered care principles are summarized by the CARE (connect-assist-respect-explain) communication and service standards.
  • Attend CARE training sessions and other training as required
  • Abide by CARE communication and service standards when interacting with other staff members or with patients and families.
  • Coach staff members on CARE communication and service standards and hold them responsible for implementation between themselves and patients
  • Observe individual staff members and evaluate the demonstration of CARE communication and service standards.
  • Service recovery: offer options and solutions to meet and exceed patient’s expectations. Retaining patients and gaining their loyalty is a key part of your role. Refer any patients who wish to discontinue treatment to the Patient Experience team.
  • Educate staff on patient experience survey questions, KPIs, and targets for your area.

Educational requirements:

  • MBBS or MBBCH or equivalent. MSc followed by M.D. or equivalent in the specialty.

Experience requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years experience after MD or equivalent in the specialty.
