Job Title – Neonatal Intensive Care Consultant – (2200000R) Jobs in Al-Khuzama – Saudi Arabia

Responsibilities:

  • Provide care for newborns, especially those born prematurely, and with health, examinations, and treatments including procedures with a full range of agents, methods, and techniques, observing quality and safety standards.
  • Diagnoses conditions in the newborn after birth, including breathing problems, infections, and birth defects.
  • Ensure that the newborn receives proper nutrition while under his care and consult with parents, pediatricians, and other healthcare providers to assure the newborn is receiving the proper care.
  • Must make regular rounds to check on critically ill babies, making sure that all proper procedures are being implemented by the NICU medical team to stabilize and improve the baby’s condition.
  • Must be available in case any emergencies arise, such as if a newborn’s vital organs stop functioning properly.
  • Reports the condition of patients under care to the supervising consultant for any technical assistance or to review the treatment regimen of the patient in case of an adverse reaction.
  • Ensure the provision of safe and quality care to the patients
  • Participate actively in quality improvement plans and projects as requested
  • implements quality improvement programs in the department in collaboration with the Quality and Patient Safety Committee and Department.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Complies with KSA legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • Address concerns or answer questions that patients have about their health and well-being
  • Participates in the Q.P.S. programs in collaboration with the Q.P.S. Department in which he/she must be an active participant of hospital-wide committees in a position designated or elected by committee members
  • Provides continuing education, training, and demonstration by sharing new procedures and techniques with colleagues, nurses, and technicians assigned within the department in collaboration with Academic Affairs and Research Center.
  • Attends to work and on-call schedules on time and performs duties completely before ending the shift.
  • Attends scheduled or unscheduled meetings to discuss and resolve problems
  • Performs other duties necessary to effect efficient services in the department without personal reservation.
  • Observe individual staff members at least twice a month and evaluate communication and service standards.
  • Coach staff members on communication and service standards and hold them responsible for implementation.
  • Be a role model and abide by communication and service standards at all times.
  • Develop and implement action plans to improve patient and staff experience in your area.

Educational requirements:

  • MBBS or MBBCH or equivalent. MSc followed by M.D. or equivalent in the specialty.

Experience requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years experience after MD or equivalent in the specialty.

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to work for long hours.
  • Good practical skills in the specialty.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and effective decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate well with patients, and demonstrate empathy and reflection.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in English and Spoken Arabic is desirable.
