Responsibilities

• Work with the Director of Schools and Education to sustain existing and identify new and relevant partnership opportunities.
• Work with all members of the SLT to pursue the school improvement plan and its contents.
• Monitor and support the development of the standards of teaching and learning throughout the department in line with the NEASC ACE Principles
• Ensure efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources.
• Manage the professional development of staff in pedagogical best practices, in conjunction with the SLT.
•  Provide and identify opportunities for staff training relevant to student learning, development needs, and partnerships, including professional development for teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies for non-Arab students.
• Facilitate in designing Arabic/Islamic school curricula, measure student achievement, and promote effective teaching methods.
• Ensure the IB Framework requirements for Arabic and Islamic studies are met in relation to the written curriculum, taught curriculum, and assisted curriculum.
•  Ensure effective systems of communication, including feedback about students’ learning to inform future planning.
• Provide feedback to teachers on their documentation and teaching methods.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NOOR which may impact policy and grade placement.
•  Promote a strong extra-curricular Arabic program to support students and parents in acquiring the language.
•  Play an active part in functions and events that promote the cultures and heritage of the region.
• Provide opportunities for observation of colleagues/visits to other schools in order to share best practices.
•  Collect and interpret assessment data gathered on students and use it to inform practice.
• Ensure the teaching and learning of Arabic and Islamic Studies for students is fun and enjoyable for all.
•  Work on enhancing teaching pedagogies of Arabic and Islamic Studies for students from KG –Gr10.

Educational requirements:

Experience requirements:

• Experience in a mature, responsible, and positive disposition and be able to work flexibly as a member of the whole school team under the direction of the Head of School and independently when required.

Desired Skills:

• Have a sound understanding of the importance of children’s learning and development in the Middle Years and have the ability to identify and support staff in developing professional skills according to need.
• Be open-minded and willing to further their knowledge and development by attending training courses, sharing information gained with colleagues, and maintaining updated knowledge of international Middle Years best practices by reading, researching, and attending relevant training.
• Exemplify high standards in practice and provision at all times.

Qualifications:

• Have up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety regulations with specific reference to children’s wellbeing, learning, and facilities.
• Have up-to-date and practical knowledge of best practices in learning and play materials and techniques which encourage children to have respect for differences in academic ability, gender, cultural background, race, and ethnicity.
