Responsibilities :

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Scouting and deep technical understanding of new promising advanced e-fuels and their production methods, including but not limited to e-methanol, e-methane, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), syngas, ammonia, dimethyl ether (DME), and e-gasoline
- Continuous scouting of e-fuels end-to-end solutions, including but not limited to industrial processes integration, land mobility solutions, air mobility solutions, maritime industry, bunkering, and off-grid applications.
- Continuous evaluation of the state-of-the-art for advanced e-fuels and new trends
- Feasibility studies of selected fuels/technologies (including close collaboration with the hydrogen techno economic team) – covering economics, mass- and energy balances, technology readiness level, sustainability, scalability, operationality (technical viability, etc.), and safety.
- Dialogue and collaboration with various external advanced e-fuel producers and developers
- Chemical process engineering support related to pilot production of our own e-fuels – including how to alter the process, change equipment, etc. to make the fuel a commercially viable fuel
- Systemic analysis – using/developing decarb risk models for maintaining a view of the expected price developments/availability of our (and competitors’) prioritized carbon-neutral fuels
- Help build and maintain a long-term portfolio of sustainable fuel solutions to support our decarbonization roadmap

Educational requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

Experience requirements:

Experience with developing and commercializing e-fuels

Experience in scaling up e-fuel production
Experience in e-fuels production methods, such as pyrolysis, reverse water gas shift, Fischer–Tropsch, Haber-Bosch, Methanation (Sabatier), methanol-to-jet, syngas production through co-electrolysis or CO2 electrolysis.
Strong technical knowledge on the production routes of e-fuels, including the processes (Fischer-Tropsch, RWGS, etc..), the related (electro)chemical reactor technologies and their optimized combination with the different electrolyzer technologies (including co-electrolysis), from theoretical, practical (lab scale testing to pilot demonstration) and modelling perspectives.

Deep understating of the complete e-fuels value chain from production to conversion, storage, transportation and usage, especially for maritime and aviation applications
Deep understanding of CO2 capturing methods and their integration with synthetic fuels production
Deep understanding of chemistry related to the synthesis of gas. This could include pathways to producing e-syngas from co-electrolysis, reverse water gas shift and similar processes.

Understanding of incentives required to accelerate e-fuels’ large scale production
Experience with advanced e-fuels characterization and perhaps engine testing

Desired Skills:

Strong project management skills, especially Power-to-X/e-fuels related project management

Excellent communication skills and enjoy communicating complex matters to a wider audience
Thrive working in a fast-paced environment, where the ability to prioritize is key
