Job Title – Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Lead – Water Solutions Jobs in Calgary, Canada
Responsibilities:
- P&ID inputs as well as process control narrative/ philosophy, Cause and Effect, Alarm trip list
- Specify, size, and select measurement and control devices (control & relief valves, transmitters, flow meters, gauges shutdown valves, etc.) and manual valves for site constructed or modularized produced water treatment equipment
- Instrument drawings, instrument and valve sizing and generation data sheets, Instrument index, I/O wiring diagrams, P&IDs, Instrument loop diagrams, specifications, Instrument UPS load requirements list, calculations, charts and graphs
- Cable schedule inputs, Junction box termination drawings
- Project controls, cost estimates, RFQ’s & purchase requisition for instruments, quantity takeoffs and manpower requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders
- Design review meeting, HAZOP and IPF (SIL Review)
Critical Competencies
- Extensive knowledge of level measurement technologies (Radar, Differential Pressure, Capacitance, Magnetic, Ultrasonic, etc…)
- Assume the lead instrumentation engineer’s role on assigned projects
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate program of assigned engineering work and projects
- Ensure proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication on projects
- Analyze reports, maps, drawings, tests, and other data to plan and design work
- Lead fabrication in E&I activities through supervision and inspection as required
- Assemble bid, approval, and construction issue drawing packages
- Review client specifications and provide comments/compliance
- Review bid analysis and make recommendations
- Requires extensive and independent contact with clients, vendor’s representatives and project field personnel. Attend and participate in client and Enerflex Water Solutions meetings
- Participate in job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data as required
- Use engineering and design computer software to complete assigned work
- Perform inspections of instrument installations for quality control and compliance with standards and specifications
- Recommend improvements for systems and equipment, prepare project documentation and assist in cost justification for funding the approval
Educational requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, and
- Knowledgeable with ISA standards
- Familiarity with industrial computer systems, motor control, PLCs and DCSs
- Highly comfortable in a demanding – dynamic environment
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Results oriented

- Able to multi-task across projects
- Available for frequent travel, car and air
- Available for International travel including site visits
- Proactively identifies and recommends areas for process improvement within the organization
Experience requirements:
- Over seven years of experience with advance knowledge in instrumentation engineering obtainable usually through a combination of experience and continuing education; or
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience
