Job Title – Operating Room Staff Nurse – (2200001O) Jobs in Al-Khuzama – Saudi Arabia

Responsibilities:

  • Performs a systematic initial and ongoing assessment of the patient’s physical and psychosocial status, specific to the age of the patient.
  • Collaborates with the patient/family and other members of the health care team to develop and update a plan of care that is consistent with the medical diagnosis and based on the patient’s changing physical, psychosocial, and age-related requirements.
  • Establishes realistic and measurable goals that are culturally sensitive and identifies nursing interventions to achieve the goals.
  • Demonstrates priority-setting skills and timeliness in responding to patient needs.
  • Provides total, direct nursing care consistent with the plan of care and needs of the patients with respect for the patient’s privacy, dignity, personal preference, and culture.
  • Transcribe physician’s orders and reviews nursing and medical orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Intervenes appropriately in clinical emergency situations i.e. cardiopulmonary arrest, initiating emergency measures
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized environment for patients/families/visitors, and staff.
  • Evaluates the quality of nursing care being delivered and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluates on an ongoing basis the patient’s progress and the appropriateness of the plan of care involving the patient/family and other health team members.
  • Evaluates and document the patient/family’s understanding of and response to the plan of care including teaching and discharge plans.
  • Participates in presenting patient care conferences.
  • Practices within the established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Recognizes when patient care needs extend beyond the limits of personal ability and consults appropriate resources.
  • Provides input during the development and review of patient care standards, policies, and procedures and participates in the Interdisciplinary Quality Assessment & Improvement Program.
  • Uses computer technology as required.
  • Follows infection control guidelines such as proper hand-washing before and after the procedure; standard precautions; proper and safe cleaning of blood, body fluids, and chemical spills; and reporting potential infections to the appropriate authority i.e. Infection Control Nurse.
  • Recognizes and supports patient and family rights by checking and/or letting the patient sign an informed consent and explaining the procedure to be done and providing privacy and confidentiality.
  • Documents untoward incidents related to patients or concerned staff and submits the same to his/her head nurse for endorsement to Nursing Administration within 24 hours of its happening.
  • Acts as a patient advocate and develops a supportive relationship with patients/families maintaining a professional role.
  • Demonstrates acceptance, caring, and empathy to patients and families.
  • Uses verbal and nonverbal communication that conveys respect for the patient/family/visitor/staff in an accurate, legible concise, and timely manner.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other members of the health care team.
  • Complies with department dress code.
  • Maintains an acceptable standard of attendance and reports to work on time.
  • Demonstrates support for Nursing Department Philosophy and Objectives.
  • Safely delegates care to non-nursing staff with appropriate supervision.
  • Attends and participates in hospital-wide committees, designated meetings, service orientations, continuing education, and quality improvement programs for professional development and maintains currency in nursing for the area of practice.
  • Performs his/her roles in all emergencies such as fire (RACE protocol), disaster, and security risk within the designated area of assignment.
  • Summons security assistance immediately through a paging system or directly to the Security Office for violent patients/visitors and theft witnessed within the hospital.
  • Competent in assisting different types of operations i.e.:  general, orthopedic, plastic surgery, genitor-urinary, gynecological, obstetrical cesarean, E.N.T., dental, oral, maxillo-facial, ophthalmic, vascular, and neurological.
  • Abide by communication and service standards at all times.
  • Attend training and coaching sessions for communication and service standards.
  • Service recovery: offer options and solutions to meet and exceed patient’s expectations. Retaining patients and gaining their loyalty is a key part of your role.
  • Work on improving patient satisfaction in your area.
  • Develop and implement action plans to promote person-centered care in your area. Person-centered care revolves around staff, patients and their families, and the community. At SGH, the person-centered care principles are summarized by the CARE (connect-assist-respect-explain) communication and service standards.
  • Abide by CARE communication and service standards when interacting with other staff members or with patients and families
  • Attend CARE training sessions and other training as required
  • Service recovery: offer options and solutions to meet and exceed patient’s expectations. Retaining patients and gaining their loyalty is a key part of your role.

Educational requirements:

  • Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor Degree in Nursing.

Experience requirements:

  • Two years of clinical nursing experience following licensure/registration.

Desired Skills:

  • Basic equipment for nursing care and equipment specific to OR Nursing Unit, CPR, good verbal Communication, and Written Communication. The ability of critical thinking.
  • Proficiency in English and Spoken Arabic is desirable.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a team environment with members of varying skill levels.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Learns quickly.
