Responsibilities:
- Coordinating the Environmental Assessment and Permitting process for Oxagon
- Development of a high-performing team to match forecast project delivery demands
- Providing technical and management supervision of the team
- Coordinate the Environmental Assessment processes at the Activity (project level) including project timelines and deliverables
- Interfacing with NEOM’s proponents and sectors, and external Environmental Consultants.
- Review of assessment reports and technical documentation submitted by proponents and external Environmental Consultants, in line with NEOM policy and planning objectives.
- Supporting engagement with regulators to ensure timely KSA approval of submissions
- Ensuring continued alignment of NEOM’s environmental planning and approval systems with IFC performance standards and the world’s best practices.
- Support the development of procedures, guidelines, and documents to further improve the Management Systems and its application.
- Procurement and management of programs run by Environmental Consultants that support the Assessment & Approvals team
- Identifying and contributing to the planning and post-approval initiatives in a dynamic and complex environment with tight timeframes, competing priorities, and conflicting stakeholder needs, views, and opinions
- Engaging with divisions and departments up to the Project Director level to facilitate meeting NEOM’s commitments and goals, specifically related to the environmental services department.
- Support the delivery of NEOM’s environment strategy to enable the creation of the world’s most livable and sustainable region where humanity and nature thrive.
Educational requirements:
- As a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Planning, or similar
Experience requirements:
- Minimum of fifteen (15) year-experience across the fields of environmental planning, assessment, and/or approvals
Desired Skills:
- A practical understanding of strategic themes such as regenerative development, climate resilience, and circularity is preferred.
- Proven record of successfully coordinating an environmental program or regulatory process
- Strong technical, environmental skills across marine or terrestrial built and natural environments
- A driven and proactive approach to service program delivery demands whilst guarding best environmental outcomes
Qualifications:
- The Oxagon Environmental Assessment and Approvals Manager have a track record of coordinating and delivering environmental planning and/or assessment services under an advanced regulatory system at a Major Capital Project, mega-project, municipality, or city scale.
- Strong written and verbal communication & report-writing skills
- Strong supervision, people management, and mentoring skills
- ESIA experience in major industrial and/or port developments is required
