 The Competition Professional assists in developing advanced market monitoring and detection techniques, solid investigation and enforcement mechanisms, and an efficient and accurate merger review process to ensure operational excellence:

Merger Review and Anticompetitive Practices

  • Manage enforcement cases and decisions.
  • Develop, implement, and periodically review all processes and rules, to ensure they remain current and up to date with best practices.

Market Intelligence

  • Review, assess, and recommend policy refinements,
  • Implement innovative and best-in-class market monitoring and market investigation techniques,
  • Engage in interactions with leading competition authorities to share best market monitoring techniques and notify of potential anti-competitive practices,

Function operations

  • Establish, track, and monitor KPIs, and consistently enhance performance
  • Develop and maintain processes, protocols and procedures
Transitional Activities for Function Readiness Setup The Competition Professional will undertake several activities to operate key functions in the interim period and to help develop the division to its end state. These activities can be organized into the following categories:

Transition Plan ​

  • Assist the Director in planning and executing the work necessary for all units’ activation and development on time and on/under budget and prepare schedules for the work’s completion.
  • Assisting with the advocacy and awareness activities of the Office
  • Track and communicate progress with the Director

Developing processes, protocols and procedures

  • Develop effective working practices and procedures for the Department,
  • Develop internal process plans, workflows and guidelines to ensure operational excellence,
  • Review and recommend refinements to NEOM Competition Director as necessary

 

Educational requirements:

  • Advanced degree in Law, Economics, or other relevant field,

Experience requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in the private or public sector focused on competition
  • Substantial experience dealing with competition law enforcement from a legal and economic perspective
  • Experience in GCC is preferred, it is not a requirement

Desired Skills:

  • Has demonstrated creativity initiative, and attention to detail,
  • Process- and result-driven mindset,

Qualifications:

  • Pragmatic goal-orientated attitude
  • A proven strong track record of providing high-quality economic and/or legal advice across several relevant competition cases, studies and inquiries,
