Brand Manager Job Accountabilities:

Financial Management:

Financial management will be the prime focus of this role with key objectives being:

  • Meet and exceed target achievements by ensuring that stores achieve the highest standards of visual presentation and customer service
  • Responsible for monitoring and analysis of Profit & Loss statement for each store, annual budgets and margin control. – Responsible for Like-for-Like KPI growth.
  • Drive sales through effective promotion of the brand. Plan sales forecast according to stock, sales and margin forecasts
  • Oversee the implementation of sales and promotions and any operational activities by liaising with the Store Management and the Brand, monitor and record the same.
  • Key focus on controlling costs such as manpower/ store operations and miscellaneous expenses.
  • Maintenance of cost on/below budgets.

Planning & Administration:

  • Liaise with the Principle on a regular basis for stock, packaging, product & visual merchandiser guidelines
  • Review and approve seasonal Shopping List and complete Size Run analysis.
  • Plan and implement stock take, through co-ordinations with Accounts and Store Managers
  • Be aware of shipping and delivery procedures of the Brand, focus on good management of stock and ensure that the stock is secure and that managers are following company procedures.
  • Events Calendar/ Trading Calendar to be finalized and circulated.
  • Continuous involvement in all Projects in coordination with the Projects Manager (right from the time Lease Agreement is signed till completion)

Inventory Management:

  • Responsible for in-season management of inventory.
  • Forecast sales figures and inventory requirements for each location.
  • Manage an efficient and effective stock flow in stores. Work in partnership with the logistics, warehouse teams to deliver an efficient and effective replenishment operation.
  • Review the inventory management systems and stock loss results to identify areas of risk and set direction in stores to reduce losses.
  • Review business through category performance mainly by store/ brand and prepare action plan.
  • Be actively involved with the deliveries as well as inventory/ stock take/ manual count/ cycle count.

Merchandise/ Product:

  • Ensure adequate stock level and stock rotation.
  • Liaise with the principle or product department to guarantee that the stock packaging is in accordance with the marketing requirement. Ensure that the stock is maximized through the season
  • Oversee Terminal stock/ shrinkage/ damage, especially
  • Achieve physical inventory result to an acceptable level
  • Provide market specific feedback on the merchandise
  • Ensure optimal level of inventory is in stores at all times and replenishment orders are efficiently placed.
  • Work closely with Logistics department.
  • Analyze weekly product performance reports and identify best and worst sellers, repeat opportunities and markdowns/ price adjustments.
  • Analyze selection of repeats in terms of lifespan and liquidation % and communicate accordingly.
  • Perform competition analysis (minimum twice a season).

Staff / Store Responsibilities:

  • Maintain effective communication with stores through regular structured visits and meetings
  • Visit competition with the Store Managers on regular basis.
  • Ensure proper staffing at all times
  • Monitor training and development of staff ensure that succession planning is carried out in conjunction with the training department
  • Ensure that managers & staff are motivated through effective communication
  • Be involved in the recruitment process.
  • Training & Development for Operations Manager and Performance Management.
  • Ensure the staff appraisals take place in a timely manner
  • Supervise the operations of the visual merchandising team and ensure that visual presentation is consistent with Brand guidelines.
  • Provide market assessment of potential store location (visit location, determine competitors, provide pictures of the location).

Qualifications – A university level education in a business subject is preferred and qualifications in visual merchandising or art & design are an advantage.
