Finance Controller, Ports industry Experience

Responsibilities :

• • • Finance Operations	General Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, general ledger, and tax compliance. Identify areas for automation of accounting and finance processes, including but not limited to RPA. Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures for billing, revenue recognition, accrual entries, deferred cost bookings and any other accounting entries. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports. Manage cash flow and forecasting to ensure proper funding of operations. Ensure compliance with local tax and regulatory requirements. Main point of contact for the external auditor, in conjunction with Director of Finance and central finance team.   Revenue accounting and billing: Develop and manage commercial accounting team, ensuring quick turnaround times for sales orders, invoice billing and revenue recognition. Ensure systems and processes are in place for instant customer reconciliations and confirm balances with customers when needed. Develop a deep understanding of port and supply chain charges, ensure operating systems (both for port and supply chain) are fully compliant with our tariff terms and conditions by liaising with system  stakeholders. Liaise with the central finance accounts receivables team with the day-to-day accounts receivable related operations and provide needed support. Monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities and research and resolve payment discrepancies.   AP Accounting: Develop and manage accounts payable accounting team, ensuring timely processing of supplier invoices. Oversee and continuously improve month end cost accrual process. Ensure PO and service delivery pipeline is known by AP accountants at any given time. Ensure systems are in place for instant supplier reconciliations and confirm balances with suppliers when needed.   Asset Accounting Ensure Asset accounting policies of the company are adhered to at any given time. Ensure up-to-date CWIP, PO and service delivery pipeline data are available to the asset accountants at any given time. Ensure required EAM data are captured and accounted for.
      Controlling & Analysis	Overseeing all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers and disclosures. Monitor customer aging schedules, collections, customer credit holds, establishing reserves, and recommending write-offs by implementing debt collection policies and regulations. Fully manage period-end closing procedures.
      People Management	Help instill a culture of development, guidance, and performance within the finance department. Develop a strong rapport with stakeholders throughout the organization. Work on performance objectives, provide necessary support, evaluate / appraise staff and provide regular feedback on performance. Educational requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business, or Finance.

Experience requirements:

• Relevant years of experience in the accounting function of a complex business environment.
• User experience in a leading ERP (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics…)
• Prior industry experience (Port, Logistics, Shipping, or similar industries).

• Outstanding level of knowledge of IFRS.
• Prior industry experience (Port, Logistics, Shipping or similar industries).
• A creative and agile approach to workplace challenges.
• Strong communication skills and proven ability to simultaneously communicate with several functional areas and related parties.

Qualifications:

• A master’s degree in one of the above fields is also desirable
• Completed certification from a globally recognized accounting body (CA, CPA, CIMA, ACCA…)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
