Notes are allowed
Prepare for how you will present yourself. This applies to both the professional and you as a person, what goals you have and what you can add to the company and the position. Education, work experience, results – what are you proud of from previous working relationships? Why should we choose you? It is allowed to have notes to rely on in the interview, but make sure that there is no reading.
Avoid the video interview mistakes
Being ill-prepared, not knowing who to meet, arriving late or logging in late for a digital interview are all pitfalls that can put it all in a bad light. These days, many interviews are conducted digitally, so make sure you are logged in on time and pick up the phone on the first few calls. Weak insight into the job you are applying for gives a bad impression – use the internet and be ready when the interview starts. Make sure that the sound on the PC is on, that you are sitting in a room without interference and that your background is representative. Remember to check that the camera on your PC is turned on if you have a video interview.
Think of answers to the most common questions
Most employers will get to know both you as a person and an employee. Based on this, you can prepare for what questions you will be asked. The most important thing in the interview is to focus on work experience and education – what have you worked on before, how you have performed the tasks, what were your areas of responsibility and what results did you achieve.
At the same time, it is also smart to prepare for questions that go on areas for improvement and what you have not succeeded in your career. Be aware of how you are as a person and what qualities best describe you in a work context.
Think carefully about why you want this particular job. What is it about the company and the position that is attractive to you? If you do not know, it can be difficult for an employer to know why they are hiring you.
The dress code – also applies to digital interviews
You should think about how you dress. Be aware of the outfit you choose when you go to the interview. Find out what kind of dress code it is where you have applied for a job – maybe you will find some pictures from the workplace on the website and on social media? The outfit is part of the impression you get from a person. Feel free to dress neutrally if you are unsure of the dress code. Remember that even if the interview takes place via video and you yourself are at home, you should dress as you would if the interview was in person.
How do you appear online?
We who are headhunters and work with recruitment, google current job candidates – and so do our employers. It is therefore important to think about how you appear online. What appears online must reflect you as a person. Do not publish anything you would not say in person. Be careful when posting something in effect. Be aware of which photos are published. Everything posted online is visible and all open sources can be checked – so be aware!
Good luck with the job interview!
